Personalization involves the use of technology to accommodate the differences between individuals. Personalization is increasingly becoming a factor in Web applications in education, healthcare, and business settings. This lecture will focus on current Web personalization trends in the hi-tech industry and in particular on Dotomi's new approach called "Personalized Media", and the company's vision, activities and tools. In addition, Yair will provide his perspective – as a well-known CTO and entrepreneur – on major processes in the Internet in the past 15 years, as well as his vision of the future trends in technology and Internet. Following the lecture, Yair will lead a workshop, open to the students of the course, on personalization in education. As the Co-Founder and CTO of Dotomi, Yair Goldfinger leads the research and development of the company’s online advertising technologies and initiatives, with a focus on creating personalized, relevant, and timely one-to-one messaging between advertisers and their consumer base. Prior to Dotomi, Yair co-founded ICQ. Acquired by AOL in 1998, today ICQ is more commonly known as Instant Messaging. Yair earned a BA in Math and Computer Science from Tel-Aviv University, and was granted the Wharton Infosys Business Transformation Award in 2005. He is an active investor in several Israeli start-up companies, and splits his time between the United States and Israel. |
